We all have questions, especially when are starting something new. Below we've answered some questions that we hear often — whether its about our brand, about our products or about shipping. 

General

Where are your clothes made?

Every one of our products are designed in Canada and most are produced and manufactured in Canada. We’re very lucky to be surrounded by an incredible creative scene and to be working with local partners that centre people and the environment in their definition of good design. That means paying living wages, proper working conditions and trying to keep waste at a minimum. So you can breathe easy knowing that our clothing was locally made (and not in a sweatshop, either).

What is slow fashion?

Slow fashion is essentially the opposite of fast fashion which is characterized by the over production of cheaper clothing— often made in unethical working condition.

Rather than wanting to fill up your closet with clothes you’ll soon replace, we strive to provide quality pieces that stand the test of time. For us, this means adopting small batch production, fewer release cycles, fair wages and focusing on the quality of textiles and designs. 

 

How do you determine the cost of each product?

As a brand, we are very conscious about accessibility, including being financially accessible. At the same time, it is important to remember that there is a cost to being conscious about how and where we produce our clothing. Given our commitment to using consciously-produced textiles and keeping manufacturing ethical, it costs us much more to produce a piece compared to some mainstream brands. Our prices primarily reflect fabric and production costs—our markups are actually very low compared to industry standards.

 

Shipping

Do you ship outside of Canada?

As of now, we are limiting shipping to only within Canada. As we grow, we're hoping to expand to outside the country. 

 

Do you allow returns? 

We know that sometimes things don't fit exactly how we want. That is why we have a 15-day return policy. This means you have 15 days after receiving your item to request a return and receive a full refund on the item you have purchased.

To be eligible for a refund, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

How do I make returns?

To start a return, you can email us at sales@hlay.ca with your order number. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
